Veganuary Series: Meet Cassidy & Chris

Now that you’ve learned all about Veganuary, it’s time for you to meet the team! During this month, you will meet the Modern Meat team members who have pledged to join the Veganuary challenge along with you! Today, we will meet Cassidy and Chris and learn about their thoughts and expectations going into Veganuary! In a few weeks, we will check back with them to see how they’re feeling and what fun recipes they’ve been cooking up in the kitchen!

Meet Cassidy!

Cassidy is an up and coming business woman who has worked for a variety of publicly traded companies. She joined Modern Meat in the early development stages, launching the plant-based product line into food service and retail markets early last year. Her specialties include corporate reorganization, operations, and strategic sales. Cassidy has a personal and vested interest in health and nutrition, with self-dedicated research on the “good for you” sector.

What is your role at Modern Meat?
“Chief Corporate Officer”

What is your favourite Modern Meat product?
“Modern Crumble”

How often do you currently consume animal-based products? 
“Likely 3 meals per week overall.”

On a scale of 1-5, how intimidated do you feel entering Veganuary? What intimidates you?
“2. Not too intimidated, I think there are a lot of great products out there now. It’s just about having the discipline and sticking to it.”

On a scale of 1-5, how excited do you feel entering Veganuary? What excites you most? 
“4. I am looking forward to seeing how my body feels after eating a strict vegan diet for an entire month. Although I have eaten a primarily plant-based diet for the last few months, I have not made the commitment 100%! Veganuary is the perfect time to try this out along with the New Year health kick.”

Meet Chris!

A former CPGA Professional and Red Seal Chef, Chris’s 20 years of experience in the food industry extend from restaurant start-ups, front & back of house management, teaching, caddying, and playing golf at the highest professional level. Chris is currently the Brand & Relationship Manager for Modern Meat; a very unique and innovative plant-based protein start-up here in Canada.

“Daily”

On a scale of 1-5, how intimidated do you feel entering Veganuary? What intimidates you?
“4. Finding alternative meal options, as I am very religious about my current diet plan”

On a scale of 1-5, how excited do you feel entering Veganuary? What excites you most?
“4. I would love to validate the whole premise of “The Game Changers” documentary.”

Chris’ first Veganuary meal:
Rigatoni with sautéed cauliflower, asparagus, onion, garlic, and olive oil blended with almond milk.
